Richmond was born and raised in Edmonton. His passion for optics began when he started to work in his father’s wholesale optical laboratory during school summer breaks since he was about 15 years old and continued until he finished his post secondary schooling. As a result he is intimately familiar with how optical lenses are made and enjoys explaining the process to anyone who is curious about it.
Richmond has a Bachelor of Commerce and attended NAIT’s Optical Sciences program for his formal optician education. He achieved his group’s top score during his NACOR optician licensing examination and is a current member of the College of Opticians of Alberta.
During his off time, Richmond enjoys fly and ice fishing as well working on home improvement and woodworking projects.
